Head to Head: Martin Roemers and Yisha Garbasz

I always find it interesting to see differing approaches when photographers deal with similar types of subject matter.

Martin Roemers"Relics of War" – presents artifacts and ruins from The Cold War which are abandoned or overgrown due to the passage of time. These photographs document "an era of hostility, deterrence politics, and the arms race — and also serve as an appeal for future peace."

Yisha Garbasz"The Fence" – photographs walls and fences that divide and define peoples and territories (often in war-torn locations).  Her photos often include a human element to illustrate the impact of these barriers on the people living on or traveling between each side.
